The race was first organized in June 1991 as a spring version of a classic Smarna gora race. In autumn the same year the traditional Race was to be organized, but the events in June conected to breakup of Yugoslavia prevented organizers' plans.
  
In winter 1996 the idea revived again - but the roots were completely different. On 1st February 1995 one of us - friends of Smarna gora - died in an accident in the Slovene mountains.
  
The event "Record" is dedicated to Tom, who spent hours training his body and spirit on the slopes of Smarna gora behind his home.
